Job Description
Position Summary
As a Colorado Climate Center (CCC) Intern, the selected candidate will work with CCC staff at the CSU Department of Atmospheric Science to develop a research project on a topic related to Colorado's climate. Specific research topic will be mutually decided by the Intern and CCC staff and will align with current CCC activities. In addition to conducting research, the Intern will participate in or shadow other CCC activities including but not limited to presentations, meetings, and outreach events. The selected candidate will also have opportunities to engage with researchers within the broader Department of Atmospheric Science. The goal of this position is to provide the Intern with a supervised research opportunity and involve them with diverse stakeholder-focused activities that occur within a typical state climate office. This is a short-term position that will run from June 1, 2026 to July 31, 2026.

Required Job Qualifications
  • High school diploma
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in atmospheric science, meteorology (or similar)
  • Demonstrated experience with an organization that provides climate services, such as NOAA; state or regional climate offices; state or local government; for-profit or non-profit climate services providers; or similar
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Job Qualifications
  • Programming experience (Python)
  • Previous experience with outreach, engagement, and/or event planning
  • Previous experience with analyzing weather and climate datasets
