Position Summary

Aetna's Reporting Solutions team is looking for an initiative-taking Lead Python Developer with 3+ years of experience in software engineering with Python in a professional environment to join our Reporting Solutions team.

This Lead Python Developer role is a part of the Aetna Commercial's Sales Enablement department that partners with business leaders and key stakeholders to optimize the achievement of strategic business objectives.

In this exciting new role, the candidate will be accountable for designing, developing new Python code for new analytics capabilities and content.

The work environment supports and thrives on out-of-the box thinking, creative talent, and a consultative approach.

Specifically, this role will be responsible for developing and delivering new capabilities to support health care analytics and reporting, benefits evaluations, and operational decision making by Aetna internal and external constituents. This work requires technical, analytic, and consultative skills.

**The position may be remote or hybrid anywhere in the US depending on candidate location and commute to a hub location

Key Responsibilities

· Leverage Python to develop new reporting and analytics using healthcare data (medical, pharmacy, lab)

· Create business applications to deliver clinical or analytic solutions to constituents in a self-service fashion using Plotly Dash Enterprise.

· Drive forward enterprise modernization opportunities leveraging Python and cloud-native technologies.

· Refactor legacy programming code to improve turn-around-times and to take advantage of modern technologies.

· Communicate with key stakeholders in a way that is easy to understand and actionable.

· Define and deliver new technical capabilities in support of healthcare business initiatives that drive short- and long-term objectives.

· Work to expand, scale, and automate the analyses available to the broader team and the Aetna field.

· Ability to mentor and knowledge share with peers.

· Monitor and maintain applications and production processes required to deliver on business commitments.

· Use analytics and technology to solve business needs as well as to demonstrate to customers the value of Aetna's integration with CVS Health.

Required Qualifications

· 3+ years of experience with a Python Data Engineering Stack in a professional environment.

· 3+ Experience with SQL query development, working in a data warehouse environment as well as the ability to work with large data sets from multiple data sources.

· Proficient in usage of the following Python libraries: Polars, NumPy, Pandas.

· Proficient with: XML, JSON, YAML.

· Experience with AI prompting to assist with development with tools like Copilot and, Claude.

· Proficient in the use of CI /CD pipelines and Git integration.

Preferred Qualifications

· 5+ years in a technical analytics/reporting role, with 3+ years of experience focusing on Python, SQL in a professional environment.

· Experience with callback architecture, including client-side callbacks, pattern-matching callbacks, and callback optimization techniques for complex multi-page applications.

· Experience with Redis for application caching, session management, and real-time data storage.

· Experience with PostgreSQL including complex query optimization, indexing strategies, and database performance tuning.

· Expertise Celery for distributed task queue management and background job processing, including task routing, retry logic, error handling, and monitoring.

· Expertise in XlsxWriter for generating complex Excel reports with multiple worksheets, charts, conditional formatting, and data validation.

· Experience with front end development, e.g., REACT, HTML, CSS.

· Experience with cloud computing providers (GCP, Azure, AWS)

· Experience with specialized Python data management libraries, e.g., with DBT.

· Experience migrating on-premises capabilities and analytical workflows to the cloud, leveraging cloud-native technologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness, e.g., with Google Cloud Platform.

· Excellent English communication and presentation skills, ensuring clear and concise communication with our team members and fostering a smooth and effective collaboration process.

· A strong ability to encourage teamwork and actively support the team's objectives is essential.

Education

· Bachelor's degree preferred/specialized training/relevant professional qualification.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$67,900.00 - $199,144.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company's equity award program.
