How much do pyrotechnic jobs pay per hour?
What is a pyrotechnic?
A pyrotechnic job involves designing, handling, and executing fireworks, special effects, or explosive displays for entertainment, military, or industrial purposes. Pyrotechnicians must understand chemistry, safety protocols, and regulatory guidelines to ensure controlled and safe explosions or effects. They may work on concerts, movie sets, theme parks, or events that require spectacular visual displays. Proper training and certifications are usually required to work legally and safely in this field.
What are the typical daily responsibilities of a pyrotechnic?
As a Pyrotechnic, your daily responsibilities often include preparing and testing pyrotechnic devices, conducting safety checks, setting up equipment at event sites, and working closely with event coordinators to ensure the display goes as planned. You may also be involved in securing permits, maintaining detailed records, and supervising on-site teams during setup and live operation. Collaboration with other professionals, such as lighting technicians and event managers, is common to ensure seamless integration into larger productions. The role can involve irregular hours, especially around major holidays and events, and requires strict adherence to safety standards at all times. This hands-on and dynamic position is well-suited for those who enjoy meticulous work and coordinating complex technical projects.
What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the pyrotechnic position, and why are they important?
To thrive as a Pyrotechnic, you need a solid understanding of chemistry, safety regulations, and explosive materials, usually supported by formal training or certification in pyrotechnics. Familiarity with ignition systems, electronic firing panels, and compliance with federal and state licensing is essential. Attention to detail, teamwork, and effective communication are valuable soft skills for managing complex shows and coordinating with production teams. These skills are vital to ensure the safe, successful execution of pyrotechnic displays while adhering to regulations and meeting client expectations.

Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!
This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.This position reports to New Glenn's Payload Accommodations production engineering team. As part of a hardworking team of specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will be performing production testing of ordnance-actuated mechanical separation systems and coordinating manufacturing activities for energetic device assemblies. This will require participation in test execution, work order management, materials procurement, test setup and configuration, and manufacturing coordination.
Your testing of these systems will require attention to detail and strict adherence to safety protocols for ordnance and high-energy systems. You will work closely with system engineers to execute production acceptance tests, maintain test configurations, and ensure hardware meets acceptance criteria. You will manage the full production test lifecycle from materials procurement through test execution and data delivery. Products for these tests require your skills in executing test procedures, configuring test setups, managing work orders, coordinating with manufacturing, and maintaining test equipment and facilities. You will also be responsible for hardware assembly and conducting test operations.
We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Ability to utilize test instrumentation and control components: pressure transducers, thermocouples, RTDs, strain gauges, accelerometers, flow meters, load cells, relays, solenoid valves, etc.
- Experience working directly with high energy systems (ordnance, high-pressure gas, high voltage, or cryogenics).
- Direct experience executing production or qualification tests with emphasis on mechanical, structural, or pyrotechnic systems.
- General knowledge of test execution, instrumentation, and manufacturing coordination.
- B.S. in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, or Physics or related technical subject area.
