Job description

The Ultra Pure Water Superintendent will report directly to the Project Superintendent and Mechanical/Plumbing Construction Manager. The UPW Superintendent will be responsible forย managing the UPW system construction from start to finish, ensuringย supervision ofย theย project team, scheduling,ย quality andย providing aย safe working environment. The UPW Superintendent will also supervise multiple mechanical subcontractorsย performingย on an extensive fast-tracked scope on a large semiconductor project. This position will be fully onsite at the project located in Boise, ID.ย 

Salary: $100,000 - $150,000 DOE + Incentives

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:ย 

  • Coordinate day-to-day activities with other superintendents, mechanical field superintendents and mechanical subcontractors
  • Supervise multiple subcontractors and craft employeesย 
  • Maintain and adjust project scheduleย dailyย 
  • Manage and abide by all safety protocolย 
  • Provide resolution to design and constructability issuesย 
  • Respond to customer/client requests and/or issues and develop resolution to problems using technical expertiseย 
  • Must be able to interpret and implement proper installations in compliance with all local authority permitting, codes and site specificationsย 
  • Provide supporting information regarding field conditions and scope for cost estimates.ย 
  • Facilitate contractor activity ensuring performance by all contractual agreementย 
  • Assist withย managementย project staffingย 
  • Provide clear communication verbally, written and electronicallyย 
  • Work closely with clients, architects, engineers, consultants, and subcontractors

ESSENTIALย FUNCTIONS:ย 

  • Standing/Walking/Sitting: Workday is combination of standing, walking, and sitting
  • Legs: Must be able to climb stairs - 50% of dayย 
  • Hands/Arms: Constant use of hands/fingers for mouse/keyboard/computer useย 
  • Vision: Visual acuity in near, mid, and far range. Color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, hand/eye coordinationย 
  • Hearing: Sufficient to hear conversational levels in person and over the telephone andย radio; sufficient to hear alarms on equipmentย 
  • Speech: Sufficient to make oneself heard in person, speak in front of groups, and be understood over the telephone and radioย 
  • Lift/Carry: Up to 50lbs.- Frequent
  • Bending/Twisting: Frequentย 
  • Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling: Minimalย 
  • Constant mental alertness, accuracy, and attention to detail
  • Must be able to work independently, make quick and effective decisions, and follow through on all assignments to meet required schedule
  • Must use creativity, independent judgment, and organizational and problem-solving skills to determine the best method to accomplish desired resultsย 
  • Must be able to plan and organize workย efficiently for maximum outcome
  • Must possess strong organizational and computer use skills and have an elevated level of competency to read/write/speak English, interpret construction related documentation and communicate with coworkersย 

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:ย 

  • Demonstrate thorough understanding of all aspects of mechanical wet or dry construction
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent degree and/or equivalent craft level work experienceย ย 
  • Education background in materials and methods of constructionย 
  • OHSA 30ย Certification
  • A minimum of 5 years' mechanical construction experienceย ย 
  • Extensive experience on large industrial and hi-techย fabricationย projectsย with specific area experience such as Fab, Subfab, Cleanroom, Tool, Jungle Gym, Utility and Process Systems.ย 
  • Experience in organizing technical data in a neat and accurate method; familiar with CSI specification system for constructionย 
  • Ability to work closely with trade and craft people in a field work situation. Patience and professionalism are essential to being able to maintain a cooperative attitude through pressure situations
  • Skills in handling several work activities at once while frequently interrupted by phone calls and urgent questions on work in progress
  • Training in design and construction document reading, design specifications, survey theory and techniques
  • Highly developed visual observation and interpretation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; must be able to work closely with project owners, architects, engineers, equipment manufacturers, vendors, and subcontractors
  • Must be a dedicated team player, self-starter, flexible and be able to work well with a variety of personalities and minimal instruction. Must be able to remain calm in high-pressure situations.
  • Must be able to physically access all areas and levels of construction site for work progress review.
  • Work schedule must be flexible to allow extended hours or off-shift work to accommodate changing construction schedule and sequences.
  • Proficient in Windows, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook) and Bluebeam
  • Experience with project management software such as Prolog, Procore, E-Builder, Microsoft Project, and Primavera Project Planner(P6)
  • Experience with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit and Navisworks
