As a Purchasing Agent, you will play a critical role in sourcing materials, equipment, services, and supplies that support field operations, project teams, and company-wide business needs. You will work closely with project managers, department leaders, vendors, subcontractors, accounting, and field personnel to ensure purchases are timely, competitive, and aligned with company requirements. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced procurement professional who enjoys solving problems, negotiating with vendors, and supporting the successful execution of construction projects.The Purchasing Agent is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and leasing construction materials, equipment, services, supplies, and permanent facility equipment to support field and office operations. This position works closely with project managers, department leaders, contracts, accounting, vendors, subcontractors, and field personnel to ensure materials and services are obtained timely, competitively, and in accordance with company requirements. The Purchasing Agent supports vendor management, purchase order administration, inventory needs, fleet administration, office equipment, and project procurement activities. This role requires strong organization, communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to identify and resolve purchasing obstacles and support successful project execution.Key ResponsibilitiesSource, evaluate, negotiate, obtain approvals for, and purchase or lease materials, supplies, tools, equipment, services, subcontractors, and other goods required for field and office operation.Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing vendors while identifying, evaluating, and qualifying new vendors and sources.Prepare, issue, and maintain purchase orders and related purchasing information within company accounting and business systems, ensuring accuracy, proper documentation, and required approvals.Support project estimating and contracting activities by providing historical usage information, pricing, vendor information, equipment costs, consumable cost, and subcontractor or service pricing.Monitor warehouse inventory levels and review project backlogs to anticipate material, tool, equipment, and consumable requirements and ensure timely procurement.Support annual capital budgeting and provide purchasing-related information necessary for effective financial planning and decision-making.Provide procurement and operational support to project managers and department managers, identifying obstacles and developing practical solutions to keep work progressing.Support company fleet and office operations, including vehicle registrations, insurance and service coordination, office equipment leases, telecommunications needs, and office furniture requirement.Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation while ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, management systems, and applicable requirements.Promote safety, environmental responsibility, teamwork, continuous improvement, and company values while supporting the ongoing improvement of procurement processes and practices.QualificationsMinimum of three years of purchasing or procurement experience, preferably within the construction or industrial construction industry.Experience sourcing and purchasing construction materials, equipment, supplies, services, or subcontractors.Experience working with vendors, negotiating pricing, obtaining competitive quotes, and managing purchasing documentation.Experience using accounting, purchasing, cost tracking, inventory management, or enterprise business systems.Experience supporting project teams, field operations, budgeting, inventory management, or other construction-related business functions preferred.We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
