Job description

We are looking for a Purchasing Assistant to join a manufacturing team in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in a long-term contract position. This opportunity is well suited for someone who is organized, dependable, and comfortable managing detailed purchasing and administrative work in a fast-paced environment. The role will support daily procurement operations, help maintain accurate purchasing records, and coordinate closely with vendors and internal teams. Training will be provided on company-specific procedures and systems, making this a strong fit for someone who learns quickly and works well with structure.


Responsibilities:

โ€ข Prepare, enter, and maintain purchase orders in internal systems with a high level of accuracy.

โ€ข Track inventory needs and material demand to help keep production schedules on course.

โ€ข Communicate with suppliers to confirm costs, delivery timing, and order details.

โ€ข Follow up on open orders, accelerate shipments when needed, and revise records with current pricing and delivery updates.

โ€ข Investigate invoice mismatches and partner with vendors to correct billing issues promptly.

โ€ข Keep vendor profiles, item records, and purchasing data organized and up to date in company systems.

โ€ข Assist with reporting, quotation tracking, and documentation that supports purchasing decisions and inventory planning.

โ€ข Provide day-to-day administrative and operational support to the Purchasing Manager and broader purchasing team.

โ€ข At least 3 years of experience in purchasing, administration, inventory support, customer service, or a related business function.
โ€ข Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, along with strong data entry accuracy.
โ€ข Ability to learn new software platforms and adapt to company-specific purchasing procedures.
โ€ข Strong organizational skills with careful attention to detail and follow-through.
โ€ข Capable of balancing multiple priorities in a busy manufacturing or operations setting.
โ€ข Experience with purchase order processing and general purchasing activities is preferred.
