About the Role:

NHK Seating of America, Inc. is owned by NHK Spring of Japan. The Frankfort plant supports an Automotive company in Lafayette. We supply the seats in a fast-paced, Just-In-Time environment. A finished seat can come off our line about every minute. The work is very repetitive and physically demanding. Our production requirements are directly linked to our customer, as customer demand increases and decreases on a daily basis so does NHK Seat production requirements.

Position: Purchasing Coordinator/Supply Chain Specialist

Pay Wage: $53,000- $57,000

Schedule: 1st Shift, Monday - Friday

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform related duties as assigned by Supervisor.

• Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

• Initial point of contact for suppliers regarding production, commercial, quality, etc. concerns and/or issues.

• Issue Engineering Request for Quote (ERFQ) to current and potential Suppliers for new model parts.

• Issue Engineering Change Notice (ECN) to Suppliers to evaluate pricing for design changes to current and new production parts.

• Review all submitted Supplier pricing against cost models to determine legitimacy and accuracy of proposed pricing.

• Work closely with suppliers on Kaizen, VA/VE and cost down activities.

• Establish and foster relationship between NHK and Suppliers to create a cooperative working relationship.

• Track all price changes based on market conditions, design changes and cost down activities.

• Approval of Invoices for payment in Intellichief

• Issue Purchase Order to Suppliers for mass production, trial parts, tooling, service parts, etc.

• Work closely with other departments during New Model Development on tooling schedules, trial events, etc,

• Understanding of how to read part drawings to compare against pricing submitted by Supplier.

• Create and maintain cost models and commodity price changes on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis.

• Use of analytical skills to compare costs against multiple suppliers within commodities, materials, etc.

• Overall Supplier Management for all activities, including quality, delivery, production, costing, development, etc.

• Proficient negotiation skills for pricing, development timing, new model awards, etc.

• Work closely with Suppliers to improve in areas where they may not meet NHK standards and/or expectations.

• Ability to lead meetings with Suppliers and/or internal NHK members regarding the supply chain.

• Hold Suppliers accountable for production, shipping, quality, etc. issues that arise and work with other departments to resolve.

• Provide management with concise updates of open issues and actions being taken to resolve as well as seek guidance as needed.

• Other duties assigned by Purchasing Management Staff to increase the efficiency of purchasing department.

Qualifications:

• Good understanding of manufacturing process, quality and purchasing

• Good written and verbal skills, and the ability to communicate clearly and professionally.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Teams and other computer programs as required

• Good math analytical skills to evaluate costs

• Ability to travel to suppliers as needed (25%)

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree preferred

Purchasing/Sales/Account Management - 1 year experience
