The Position:

The Purchasing Specialist plays a critical role in supporting plant operations, inventory management, and purchasing functions. This position ensures asphalt plants and warehouses are properly equipped, organized, and operating efficiently by maintaining inventory systems, training personnel, and supporting field operations.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Management

  • Perform and oversee plant and warehouse cycle counts
  • Establish and maintain min/max inventory levels for all plant and warehouse items
  • Organize, standardize, and right-size plant inventory
  • Implement and maintain barcode systems at plant locations
  • Review, remove, and manage obsolete inventory to reduce excess stock
  • Evaluate returned parts from the field for reuse or disposal
Purchasing Support
  • Populate and maintain reference parts lists for all asphalt plants
  • Provide guidance on sourcing alternative parts when standard items are unavailable
  • Support purchasing team with inventory insights and system usage
  • Assist with maintaining accurate and updated parts data
  • Assist in locating and sourcing parts required in the field

Training & Development

  • Train purchasing staff on E360 system usage
  • Educate Teams on reference parts systems and inventory processes
  • Educate members on cycle counting and inventory best practices
Maintenance & Systems Support
  • Support oil sampling program implementation and tracking
  • Assist in emergency parts deliveries as needed

Requirements
