Job description

Now Hiring: Corporate Buyer

Job Purpose:

  • The Buyer has the primary responsibility of purchasing goods, materials and services to support the production schedule and to ensure the operational needs are met. This position works with the Purchasing Manager and supports the Plastics department vision, direction and policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage purchasing activities by sourcing and ordering materials, goods, and services to support production schedules, inventory goals, and business needs.

  • Build strong supplier partnerships while negotiating, monitoring performance, resolving issues, and identifying new sourcing opportunities to improve quality, cost, and service.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with production, operations, finance, and other internal teams to ensure purchasing requirements are accurate, timely, and aligned with business objectives.

  • Monitor inventory and supply continuity by proactively managing order schedules, expediting deliveries when needed, and addressing supply chain disruptions before they impact operations.

  • Drive cost savings and process improvements through quote analysis, supplier evaluations, market research, and identification of cost reduction opportunities. 

  • Support purchasing operations and reporting by resolving purchase order and invoice discrepancies, maintaining accurate records, tracking supplier metrics, and contributing to continuous initiatives. 

Desired Minimum Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Purchasing principles and practices with 3 to 5 years of experience and/or a Degree in related field.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Analytical and a strong demonstrated problem-solving ability

  • Proficient in MS office, excel and computer skills

  • Strong sense of urgency and attention to detail

  • Excellent organization, communication and follow-up skills

  • Able to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks and achieve targets

  • Able to work well under pressure and stressful situations.

Working Environment:

  • Primarily located within an office environment.

  • Occasional time spent within the manufacturing area.

  • On occasion this person may be required to visit a customer location.

  • Normal office hours with periodic need for weekend or evening work
