Job description

GCG is continuing to grow a specialized team focused on supporting data center customers and partners as they plan, source, and deploy critical infrastructure! To support those efforts, we're currently seeking a Quoting & Purchasing Specialist to play a key role in the quoting and purchasing processes for cable assemblies, electro-mechanical assemblies, and related infrastructure solutions.

As our Quoting & Purchasing Specialist, you'll review customer RFQ packages, interpret technical documentation, coordinate costing inputs, confirm quantities and material requirements, and prepare quote information for final Engineering review and customer submittal. When quotes have been finalized and approved, you will work with our suppliers to purchase the materials needed, identifying best materials options based on quality, price, and lead time to ensure swift production that supports customer satisfaction. 

You will work closely with Sales Support, Customer Service, Engineering, Operations, and technical customer contacts to help ensure quote packages are accurate, complete, and aligned with customer requirements.

This is a strong fit for someone who is detail-oriented, technically curious, comfortable working with drawings and specifications, and able to manage multiple quoting priorities in a fast-moving environment.

This is an onsite role at our offices located in New Berlin, WI. 

What you’ll do

  • Review customer RFQ packages and prepare quote information for Engineering review and submittal
  • Coordinate and determine costing for cable assemblies, electro-mechanical assemblies, and related products
  • Review, confirm, and organize quote data for accuracy and completeness
  • Interpret prints, drawings, specifications, and customer requirements
  • Confirm quantities for linear products and related materials
  • Identify materials, availability, and potential alternate options when appropriate to support timely purchasing of products when quote has been finalized and approved
  • Determine tooling needs, tooling availability, test requirements, and fixture needs
  • Identify and document exceptions, deviations, or clarifications related to customer specifications
  • Keep Customer Service and Sales Support stakeholders informed of RFQ status
  • Communicate directly with customer technical contacts as needed, while ensuring Customer Service resources remain informed and involved
  • Maintain applicable quote documentation in the appropriate shared folders and systems
  • Load BOMs, routings, and raw materials for new products
  • Update and manage the quote log, including follow-up with Customer Service as needed
  • Lead quote meetings when required
  • Support production-related purchasing and other departmental needs as workload allows
  • Support company quality policies and safety initiatives as they apply to the Assembly Division

What you’ll bring

  • Engineering degree or 3 years of experience in cable assembly, Manufacturing, Engineering, or technical customer service
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cable assembly process and product technologies preferred
  • Strong familiarity with cable assembly raw material suppliers preferred
  • Experience communicating with Customers and Suppliers
  • Demonstrated experience with MS-Office (MS Excel, MS Word) and MS-Windows
  • Experience using quoting software
  • Strong written and verbal communications
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks effectively
  • Strong attention to detail
