American Welding and Gas has an immediate need for aPurchasing Agentin our Raleigh, NC corporate headquarters.

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for ordering hard goods inventory for AWG stores, tracking, and confirming these purchase orders with suppliers and AWG stores, resolving back orders, special orders and miscellaneous inventory related matters. There are also additional duties including but not limited to: analyzing purchasing reports, evaluating inventory levels, collaborating with AWG stores, suppliers and/or Accounts Payable to resolve discrepancies and other project work as directed.

Skills/Qualifications/Work Requirements:

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience; 4-year degree preferred.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong decision-making skills with minimal oversight
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with diverse groups including store managers, other internal customers, and suppliers.
  • Works well in an evolving, fast paced, team environment.

  • Experience in compressed gas and welding industries a plus but not required.
