Job description

Buyers are trained to assist in departmental purchasing and can be in any of the organizational departments that purchase items from vendors for sale at our stores. Buyers work closely with Department Managers to ensure the proper and efficient operation of the department. They also may help in a variety of roles on the sales floor and behind-the-scenes including cash handling, stocking shelves, fronting, prepping produce, cleaning, and helping with basic clerical tasks such as filing documents.

Requirements
Required Education and Experience
1. Minimum one (1) year customer service experience, in a retail setting preferred; grocery store setting highly desirable.
2. Minimum one (1) year experience as a purchaser/buyer preferred.
3. Combination of education, training and/or experience will be considered.
4. Computer skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), data entry, and Internet applications required.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
1. Be willing and able to obtain Erie County food handling certification, if needed.
2. Be willing and able to continue education/training on whole and natural foods and on cooperative and grocery trends, as needed or required.
