Job description

PURCHASING MANAGER
Position Summary
Electroswitch is seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to lead our purchasing function in support of manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for procuring raw materials, components, equipment, and services while developing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, ensuring on-time delivery, and supporting production through effective inventory and supply chain management.
The Purchasing Manager will lead the purchasing team and work closely with Planning, Production, Engineering, Quality, and Finance to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing operations, drive supplier performance, and identify cost savings opportunities.
What You'll Do
  • Lead and develop the purchasing team while establishing departmental priorities and performance expectations.
  • Develop and execute purchasing strategies that support production schedules and business objectives.
  • Source, evaluate, and manage suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery, and reliability.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, terms, and long-term supplier agreements.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate purchases to support production while minimizing shortages and excess inventory.
  • Partner with Planning and Operations to support manufacturing schedules.
  • Analyze material requirements, usage trends, and forecasting data.
  • Conduct supplier performance reviews and manage corrective actions when needed.
  • Ensure purchased materials meet quality and engineering specifications.
  • Identify cost reduction and continuous improvement opportunities throughout the procurement process.
  • Manage ERP/MRP purchasing activities, purchase orders, and vendor records.
  • Support new product introductions by coordinating supplier readiness.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, quality standards, and applicable regulations.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred.
  • Five or more years of purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong supplier negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems (SyteLine experience is a plus).
  • Understanding of inventory control, production planning, and supply chain processes.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.

Preferred
  • Experience in a high-mix, medium-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement principles.
  • Domestic and international sourcing experience.
  • APICS, CPM, or CPSM certification.
