Position Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Inventory Manager to support engineering teams working on cutting-edge products in the early stages of development. This role will focus on material procurement, inventory management, kitting, shipping, and supplier coordination for rapidly evolving programs, including support for large-scale initiatives.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment where product requirements change frequently and can effectively partner with Mechanical Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, PMs, Supply Chain teams, and external vendors to ensure materials are available when and where they are needed.
This position offers an opportunity to work closely with engineering teams developing next-generation technologies before products reach General Availability (GA).
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management & Material Handling
  • Manage inventory for engineering development programs and prototype builds.
  • Receive incoming shipments and verify quantities and accuracy against purchase orders and packing slips.
  • Organize, label, and store inventory in designated locations.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and communicate material availability to internal stakeholders.
  • Identify inventory shortages and proactively coordinate replenishment activities.

Procurement & Supplier Coordination
  • Support vendor onboarding activities in Coupa and other procurement systems.
  • Create and manage purchase orders (POs).
  • Communicate directly with suppliers to confirm orders, track deliveries, and resolve supply issues.
  • Monitor delivery schedules and ensure critical materials arrive on time to support engineering milestones.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain teams to address procurement challenges.

Engineering & Product Development Support
  • Work closely with Mechanical, Manufacturing, and Software Controls Engineering teams supporting new product introduction (NPI) efforts.
  • Assist in identifying part substitutions and material alternatives when supply constraints arise.
  • Obtain and organize engineering files, drawings, and specifications required for procurement and inventory management.
  • Serve as a key liaison between engineering and suppliers to support rapid product iteration cycles.

Kitting & Logistics
  • Create kits containing 30-50 unique components with varying quantities based on engineering requirements.
  • Package and prepare materials for engineering builds and field deployments.
  • Coordinate domestic and international shipments to customer, test, and development sites.
  • Ensure shipment documentation is accurate and compliant with applicable requirements.

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in inventory management, materials coordination, logistics, supply chain, manufacturing support, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Experience handling inventory, receiving, shipping, and material tracking.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and suppliers.
  • Experience working with Bills of Materials (BOMs).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Coupa or similar procurement and purchasing systems.
  • Experience supporting engineering, manufacturing, or new product development teams.
  • Familiarity with Teamcenter or other Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
  • Ability to interpret CAD drawings and engineering documentation.
  • Experience with NPI (New Product Introduction) environments.
  • Understanding of component sourcing, material substitutions, and supplier management.
  • Experience coordinating domestic and international shipments.
