Job description

Life's Abundance is seeking a strategic, analytical, and results-driven Purchasing Manager to lead the company's purchasing, inventory, and supply chain operations. This position is responsible for ensuring the timely procurement of raw materials, packaging, finished goods, and operational supplies while maintaining optimal inventory levels, controlling costs, and supporting uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
The Purchasing Manager supervises two Purchasing Coordinators and partners closely with Manufacturing, Warehouse Operations, Logistics, Accounting, Quality Assurance, Technology, and Executive Leadership to develop purchasing strategies, strengthen supplier relationships, improve operational efficiencies, and ensure products are consistently available for our Field Representatives and their customers.
This is an on-site position based in Jupiter, FL.
Key Responsibilities
Purchasing Strategy & Leadership
  • Develop and execute purchasing strategies aligned with company goals, production schedules, and inventory objectives.
  • Lead and supervise the purchasing team (Purchasing Coordinators), establishing priorities, improving workflows, and ensuring accountability.
  • Develop purchasing policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Analyze purchasing trends and identify opportunities for cost savings and operational improvements.
  • Present purchasing metrics and recommendations to leadership.
Inventory Management
  • Oversee inventory planning across multiple warehouses and manufacturing locations.
  • Establish and maintain safety stock levels based on demand forecasting and production requirements.
  • Monitor inventory turns, obsolete inventory, slow-moving inventory, and stock accuracy.
  • Partner with Manufacturing and Warehouse teams to ensure adequate inventory for production schedules.
  • Develop inventory replenishment strategies that balance service levels with working capital.
  • Identify inventory risks and implement corrective action plans before shortages occur.
Purchasing & Procurement Operations
  • Oversee the full procurement lifecycle - from demand planning and purchase order creation through receipt, payment, and record-keeping.
  • Approve purchase orders within established authority limits.
  • Monitor supplier lead times and proactively resolve delays or shortages.
  • Ensure purchasing records remain accurate and compliant with FDA requirements and company policies.
  • Oversee procurement of raw materials, packaging components, finished goods, maintenance supplies, and office materials.
Supply Chain & Logistics Coordination
  • Partner with logistics providers to ensure timely inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Coordinate transportation schedules with carriers, warehouses, and manufacturing facilities.
  • Develop contingency plans for supply disruptions and transportation delays.
  • Collaborate with warehouse leadership on inventory transfers between facilities.
  • Monitor freight costs and identify opportunities for transportation efficiencies.
Financial Management
  • Develop and manage purchasing budgets, including annual budgeting and forecasting.
  • Monitor purchasing expenditures and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Analyze material cost trends and recommend pricing strategies.
  • Partner with Accounting to resolve invoice discrepancies and payment issues.
Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing to ensure uninterrupted production.
  • Work closely with Product Development on sourcing new materials and packaging.
  • Partner with Technology to improve ERP processes and purchasing automation.
  • Participate in strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure purchasing activities comply with FDA regulations, GMP requirements, and company policies.
  • Maintain supplier documentation, certifications, and compliance records.
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies for critical suppliers and materials.
  • Ensure business continuity planning for key product categories.
  • Monitor market conditions affecting material availability and pricing.
Qualifications
Preferred Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or manufacturing experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience within a manufacturing, food production, consumer packaged goods (CPG), pharmaceutical, or regulated environment preferred.
  • Experience managing supplier negotiations and strategic sourcing initiatives.
