Job description

Ashlar Homes is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Purchasing Manager to join our growing production homebuilding team. This role is responsible for managing the purchasing process across 3–4 communities and approximately 150 homes annually while supporting field operations, trade partners, and project management teams.

This position is ideal for someone who thrives in systems, enjoys problem solving, communicates well with both office and field personnel, and can successfully manage a large volume of details with accuracy and consistency.

Responsibilities
• Manage the purchasing process for approximately 150 homes annually across multiple communities
• Assign trades and vendors by community and maintain accurate trade allocations
• Generate, release, and maintain purchase orders (POs) and vendor purchase orders (VPOs)
• Enter and maintain pricing, scopes, vendor information, and purchasing data within company systems
• Coordinate daily with project managers, superintendents, vendors, and subcontractors regarding purchasing questions, PO revisions, VPOs, and invoice-related issues
• Review plans, specifications, budgets, and scopes for accuracy and completeness
• Resolve purchasing discrepancies, pricing conflicts, scope gaps, and field-related purchasing concerns
• Ensure purchasing documentation is completed accurately and on schedule
• Maintain strong communication between purchasing, construction, accounting, and trade partners
• Help improve purchasing workflows, operational efficiencies, and internal systems
• Support vendor relationships and accountability across assigned communities

Qualifications
• 2 years of residential construction purchasing, estimating, or production homebuilding experience preferred, but not required
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Systems-minded with excellent follow-through and accountability
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Self-starter who works well independently and within a team environment
• Proficiency with Buildertrend, Adaptive, Higharc, or similar construction management software preferred
• Understanding of residential construction materials and subcontractor scopes is a plus
