Madden Industrial Craftsmen is looking for an experienced Purchasing Agent for their commercial hardware and construction supply client.
Location: Hillsboro, OR
Schedule: Monday-Friday, Day Shift
Compensation: $75k - $95k DOE
Position Summary:
Seeking an experienced Purchasing Agent with deep expertise in Division 8 materials to manage the technical procurement of doors, frames, and hardware. This role is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and coordinating hollow metal doors and frames, architectural wood doors, and complex finish hardware packages while ensuring compliance with project specifications, schedules, and budget requirements. The ideal candidate will possess strong vendor management skills, industry knowledge, and experience working with procurement software such as Microsoft Dynamics NAV.
Key Responsibilities
  • Procure Division 8 materials, including:
    • Hollow metal doors and frames
    • Architectural wood doors
    • Commercial and architectural finish hardware
  • Review project plans, specifications, and submittals to ensure materials are purchased accurately and meet project requirements.
  • Coordinate stock and custom orders to support project schedules and prevent delays.
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms with manufacturers, distributors, and suppliers.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key Division 8 vendors and manufacturers.
  • Monitor order status and proactively address supply chain challenges, production issues, and delivery schedules.
  • Resolve purchasing discrepancies, including damaged shipments, shortages, incorrect orders, and warranty issues.
  • Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and operations teams to ensure procurement aligns with project needs.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, vendor documentation, and order tracking information.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and specification compliance.

Required Qualifications
  • Proven experience purchasing Division 8 materials, specifically doors, frames, and hardware.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Hollow metal doors and frames
    • Architectural wood doors
    • Commercial finish hardware and hardware schedules
  • Experience negotiating with manufacturers and suppliers to secure competitive pricing and favorable lead times.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and submittals.
  • Experience resolving procurement and order fulfillment issues.
  • Proficiency with purchasing and ERP systems, including Microsoft Dynamics NAV (or similar ERP software).
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
