Job description

Purpose

This position is responsible for the purchasing and inventory management activities for the Maintenance Department at the St. Clair Plant.

Responsibilities

  • Manage purchasing processes for Maintenance Department at St. Clair.
  • Place orders and follow through to completion; track and reconcile open orders.
  • Assist maintenance department with identifying vendors based on given request specifications and coordinate vendor service activities once contracted.
  • Help identify opportunities for continuous improvement through review of purchasing patterns.
  • Ensure department purchasing activities are aligned with plant and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Provide reporting for purchasing activities and maintain data regarding committed inventories and purchased supplies.
  • Complete monthly analysis of plant spend; identify trends and resolve discrepancies.
  • Train other staff members in purchasing systems and procedures as needed.
  • Organize and maintain stockroom
  • Collect orders from shipping and receiving and organize orders in stockroom
  • Analyze and maintain cycle counts
  • Collaborate with accounts payable to check status of payments for vendors.
  • Coordinate accounts payable activities with plant and corporate resources to meet payment commitments.

Technical Skills

  • Intermediate or advanced Microsoft Office Skills, specifically Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong customer services skills.
  • Data analysis skills. 
  • Inventory management skills
  • Understanding of industrial & manufacturing terminology preferred but not required.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds intermittently

Required Education and Experience

High School Diploma or Equivalent plus three years' data entry experience

Preferred Education and experience

Associates Degree

Experience with Microsoft Office 

Experience with MRP/ERP systems (Maximo, SAP)
