Major Responsibilities:
Ensure that sufficient quantities of food and products are available for patients, catering events and other functions.
1)Supervises the receipt of perishable and non-perishable products, checking deliveries against invoices and department order sheets to ensure that the proper quantities and quality are received and differences in the order and shipment are noted.
2)Supervises the proper distribution of products, monitoring inventories and usage rates and adjusting par stock levels as required.
3)Gives food production coordinator notification for utilization of leftovers and excess items prior to spoilage. Ensure that products are stored in proper storage areas, rotating and dating stock with each shipment and dispensing/issuing products using "FIFO".
4)Evaluate pricing and place orders with approved vendors.
5)Procures food and supplies in compliance with department budget.
6)Generate cost savings ideas and reports recommendations to manager.
7)Determine raw food cost for entrees for cafe, patient services and any catered special events.
8)Update records of all current products, specifications, usage, receipt, issuing and prices.
9)Assist other department coordinators with new menu items, special functions and cafeteria "specials".
Assist the manager with the development and monitoring of the department's operating budget.
1)Assist in the planning and administration of the annual food and supply budget and monitor budgetary expenditures, reporting to manager justifications for variances on an ongoing basis.
2)Ensure food and supplies are sufficient to meet service demands and established objectives.
3)Monitor food and non-food purchases, keeping expenses in line with established budget.
4)Identify inventory levels and costs of supplies maintained in the area.
5)Assist in developing new and expanding program proposals considering costs and budget implications.
6)Assist in completing forecasting for upcoming and long-term budgets.
7)Collaborate with approved vendors to assure new products introduced are high quality and meet the established Group Purchasing Organization guidelines.
8)Meet with vendors to organize the purchasing process for new food items and supplies.
Supervise, coordinate and monitor the activities of the storeroom staff.
1)Complete weekly staffing schedules to ensure adequate coverage of the storeroom and post at least two weeks in advance.
2)Develop work standards for storeroom associates to improve efficiency of work processes.
3)Manage human resources functions within area, i.e., interview, recommend for hire, completion of performance reviews, monitoring of probationary logs, implementing disciplinary action as needed and recommend termination of associates.
4)Orient and inservice new associates to area policies and procedures in compliance with hospital and regulatory agency requirements.
5)Maintain the continuity of operations within the storeroom. Provide direction and support by functioning as a team leader; providing guidance and instruction to storeroom helpers as necessary.
6)Facilitate the resolution of associate performance and/or associate issues by following established disciplinary guidelines.
7)Review and update job descriptions as determined by the manager.
Coordinate and distribute movement of food products throughout food and nutrition services and hospital for various needs.
1)Develop and direct staff in appropriate sanitation procedures to ensure all standards of cleanliness and sanitation are adhered to.
2)Identify problem areas in safety and foodborne illness control issues, recommending appropriate corrective actions as warranted.
3)Ensure that requisitions for supplies and nourishments are filled at regularly scheduled pick-up times for nursing floors, ancillary departments and the other food & nutrition services areas.
4)Assist hospital and departmental associates with their supply needs in a courteous and helpful manner complying with all Behaviors of Excellence standards.
5)Assist in the development and implementation of the menu management program for the department.
6)Promotes patient safety by reporting of issues through established channels and participating as requested in safety initiatives.
7)Assist in implementation of menu management system for department, to ensure proper usage of food & supplies by tracking product usage, monitoring development and compliance of standardized recipes and maintain control over issuing processes.
Provide excellence in customer service in accordance with established Behaviors of Excellence expectations and the Hospital Customer Service Standards.
6)Ensure adequate department training and orientation of all associates, as well as conducting mandatory in-services as needed.
7)Participate in hospital committees and projects as required by the manager.

1)Submit required purchasing, check requests and transmittal forms to appropriate office's in a timely basis for required processing and approval / signature.
2)Initiate payment processes by maintaining computer tracking program for writing check requests on a timely basis.
3)Tracks usage of supplies for rebates and quarterly reports and deposits rebate checks.
4)Work with manager to determine problem areas in the budget. Review and analyze the responsibility summary and takes action to correct budgetary problems.
5)Make sure accounting of all monthly reporting for chargebacks are accurate and up to date with current pricing for necessary monthly numbers and all errors are corrected before submitting.
Attendance
1)Ability to work as assigned, including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
2)Maintain a good attendance and punctuality record.
Education/Experience Required:
• Associate Degree or equivalent course/work experience. • Minimum of three years experience in food service storeroom and purchasing aspects of food service operations. Knowledge of budgets, revenue and expense cost accounting as they relate to food service operations. • Minimum two years supervisory experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
PC knowledge required. Proven ability to work in stressful situations. • Ability to prioritize tasks. • Ability to communicate effectively. • Ability to develop and follow recipes. • Ability to operate minor kitchen equipment.
• Ability to become certified in Food Service Sanitation (within first 3 months).

This requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 08/01/2014. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance.
