ABOUT THE POSITION:
We are seeking a motivated Purchasing Coordinator to join our team. If you are detail oriented, have a background in purchasing and want to join an established company with growth opportunites and excellent benefits we want to speak with you. Steel or Metals background is required.

Responsibilities
  • Optimize all inbound material flows by coordinating daily with operations, sales, traffic departments and outside service providers.
  • Manage transfer orders between internal/external warehouses and for inbound material from the port and transload facilities.
  • Enter outside processing purchase orders e.g. for leveling of coils.
  • Regularly review open purchase orders to keep due dates and open order balances current.
  • Follow up on order status with mill representatives and expedite shipments as needed.
  • Obtain missing documents e.g., bills of lading and test reports from mills and other vendors.
  • Assist with pre-receiving of railcar shipments and uploading of test reports.
  • Enter purchase orders based on assortments provided by Director of Purchasing and Junior Buyer.
  • Serve as point person for the sales team to facilitate buyout transactions and spot buys from local mills to fill customer orders.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Proficient in relevant software applications (e.g., ERP systems, Microsoft Office).
  • Ability to prioritize with minimal supervision.
