Key Responsibilities

  • Material Procurement and Vendor Management
    • Source, evaluate, and consolidate vendors to ensure cost efficiency and quality standards.
    • Procure consumables, shop and field supplies, parts, and miscellaneous materials to meet operational needs.
    • Establish and maintain national accounts for key materials and consumables.
    • Perform regular price checks and comparisons to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Inventory Management
    • Set and maintain appropriate inventory levels to support fabrication and field operations.
    • Conduct routine inventory checks and audits to ensure accuracy and prevent shortages or overstocking.
    • Coordinate with fabrication and field teams to anticipate and address material needs.
    • Produce and post daily job cost reports and Viewpoint entries.
  • Process Optimization
    • Assist the Purchasing Manager in standardizing purchasing practices across all companies.
    • Utilize advanced technology platforms, including Tekla PowerFab and EPMgo, to optimize procurement processes.
    • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Order Management and Compliance
    • Verify purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project schedules and budgets.
    • Code invoices and submit for approval while maintaining detailed records for audit purposes.
    • Ensure timely delivery of materials to fabrication shops and field operations.
  • Reporting and Communication
    • Provide regular reports on purchasing performance, cost savings, and inventory metrics to department management.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align purchasing strategies with project and operational goals.
    • Communicate updates and challenges related to material procurement to the Purchasing Manager.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field required.
  • 3+ years of related experience in purchasing and procurement, preferably in steel fabrication or construction.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License for occasional travel to shop and office locations.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
