ABOUT THE JOBThe Purchasing Assistant helps maintain supply inventory levels and purchasing records and works with vendors to reconcile any issues with orders. In addition to learning company purchasing policies and procedures, this position maintains supply inventory levels required for effective company operation and conducts regular price comparisons to ensure the company is always invoiced appropriately.WHAT YOUR DAY WILL LOOK LIKE Receives orders from locations and sources. Evaluates product inventories and compares them to the sales history. Determines whether the transfer of product should be done in-house or purchased externally. Coordinates the transfer and purchase of products with locations, vendors and trucking companies. Places orders for products as directed by leader. Determines which vendor brands should be purchased when product is available. Monitors location purchase requests. Reconciles and resolves discrepancies between invoices, purchase orders, receiving reports and credit memos. May be required to drive a company vehicle. Provides excellent customer service to all internal and external customers. Follows all company policies and procedures. Other work-related duties as assigned by leader. Reliable and regular attendance is expected. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE High school diploma or equivalent is required. Two years of related work experience is required. SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS Proficiency with Oracle, Discoverer and/or Agvance Systems is preferred. Computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office are required. Valid U.S. driver's license is required to drive a company vehicle. Must be able to meet all company requirements to drive a Helena vehicle. Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a busy environment. Ability to read, write and speak in English is required. Communicating in Spanish is a valuable skill at Helena. Successful completion of a drug test and background check is required for all positions at Helena.WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ASPECTS OF THE JOBThe work environment for this position is that of a typical office environment where the noise level is mostly quiet.
