The Inventory Control Specialist will administer inventory control procedures, investigate negative inventory quantities, analyze results, and make recommendations based on findings. This role also assists with preparation and administration of cycle counting, production, purchasing and accounting departments in an effort to maintain complete and accurate inventory levels throughout the company. The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, and driven to identify and resolve inventory issues, collaborating effectively with Production, Purchasing, and Operations. What You'll Do Inventory Control & Accuracy
  • Administer and maintain inventory control procedures to ensure accurate inventory records across the organization.
  • Investigate and resolve negative inventory quantities in collaboration with Production, Purchasing, and Accounting.
  • Research, process, and communicate required inventory adjustments to the Production floor.
  • Analyze inventory variances and discrepancies, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Reconcile part variances and inventory discrepancies to maintain system accuracy.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report excess, obsolete, and aged inventory.
Cycle Counting & Physical Inventory
  • Assist with the planning, execution, and administration of cycle count activities.
  • Analyze cycle count results, document variances, and communicate findings to management.
  • Support the preparation and execution of physical inventory counts and analyze post-count variances.
  • Ensure adherence to established counting procedures and inventory accuracy standards.
  • Assist Production floor teams with proper inventory handling, scrap reporting, and approved material substitutions.
  • Research and communicate scrap reporting requirements to ensure accurate inventory transactions.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional problem-solving efforts related to inventory accuracy and material flow.
  • Collaborate with Production, Purchasing, Receiving, and Accounting to resolve inventory and receiving discrepancies.
  • Assist in the implementation, documentation, and continuous improvement of inventory control procedures.
  • Provide inventory-related data, insights, and recommendations to Production and Management teams.
Documentation, Training & Standards
  • Document inventory errors, corrective actions, and procedural gaps; communicate findings to Production Management.
  • Write, maintain, and update inventory-related work instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Train Production floor team members and Management on inventory accuracy standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Train new team members in inventory processes and provide coverage support during critical operational periods.
Organization, Safety & Housekeeping
  • Maintain proper housekeeping standards related to inventory organization, storage, and material flow.
  • Ensure inventory locations, staging areas, and storage systems support accuracy, efficiency, and safety.
  • Support plant safety standards while working throughout the manufacturing environment.
Position Requirements: Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required; associate's degree or some college coursework preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in Inventory Control, Manufacturing, or a related function.
  • Experience working with inventory systems (ERP/MRP) and inventory transactions preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to process data quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and critical thinking skills with the ability to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree or relevant college coursework.
  • Prior production or manufacturing floor experience.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Continuous learner with a focus on adaptability and process improvement.
  • Willingness to be visible on the shop floor and engage with team members daily.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to support cross-functional collaboration.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 45 lbs. unassisted with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull materials weighing more than 45 lbs. using team lifting procedures.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods (8-12 hours per shift).
  • Ability to safely move throughout the manufacturing floor.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, climb stairs and/or ladders as required for job tasks.
  • Ability to use hands, wrists, and fingers for handling materials, writing, and computer work.
  • Frequent use of computers, keyboards, tablets, scanners, or handheld devices.
  • Ability to work in a loud, fast-paced industrial environment.
  • Ability to work in hot and cold environmental conditions.
