Job description

Robert Half is partnering with a manufacturing client in the recruiting for Senior Production Planner responsible for developing, coordinating, and maintaining production schedules to ensure efficient manufacturing operations, on-time delivery, and optimal inventory levels. In addition to core planning responsibilities, this position will also provide support to the Materials Manager and Senior Buyer by assisting with select purchasing and supplier coordination activities. The ideal candidate will have strong planning expertise, solid ERP/MRP system knowledge, inventory level control and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed production schedules based on customer demand, inventory targets, capacity, and material availability.
  • Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as needed to address changing priorities, shortages, or operational constraints.
  • Analyze demand forecasts, work orders, and inventory levels to ensure accurate production planning and timely material flow.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing, warehouse, and customer service teams to support on-time order fulfillment.
  • Review MRP/ERP outputs and take action to resolve scheduling, capacity, and material-related issues.
  • Identify risks to production schedules and escalate supply or capacity concerns proactively.
  • Support inventory accuracy and help maintain appropriate stock levels for raw materials, components, and finished goods.
  • Assist the Buyer with purchase order placement, supplier follow-up, order confirmations, and tracking delivery dates.
  • Communicate with suppliers regarding material availability, expedites, push-outs, and delivery changes.
  • Help the Materials Manager analyze material requirements, purchasing priorities, and supply chain performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve planning, purchasing, and inventory control processes.
  • Prepare and maintain reports related to production schedules, shortages, supplier status, and key materials metrics.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on scheduling efficiency, inventory optimization, and supplier performance.

• 5-10 years of production scheduling, materials planning, or supply chain coordination within a manufacturing environment.

• Bachelor degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business or related field

• Working knowledge of MRP and ERP systems, including the ability to interpret planning outputs and take appropriate action.

• Strong understanding of inventory control principles, material flow, and capacity-based scheduling.

• Ability to coordinate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate clearly with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

• Background supporting purchasing activities such as purchase order follow-up, delivery tracking, and supplier communication.
