Mechanical Engineer (Junior to Senior Level)

We are seeking innovative mechanical engineers with a passion for commercial pulsed power or high-temperature applications. Candidates should have a background in mechanical engineering or applied physics, with expertise in areas such as plasma physics, mining, thermal transport, or commercial applications, including theoretical and experimental analysis. Proficiency in mechanical design and materials is highly valued.

I-Pulse Albuquerque is investing in R&D to pioneer new technologies and establish industry benchmarks in pulsed-power and electrical systems. By opening an office in Albuquerque, we are advancing our commitment to commercializing pulsed power. We seek creative individuals who can rapidly transform concepts into hardware and integrate them into commercial applications.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Collaborating with scientists, engineers, technicians, and program managers to develop cutting-edge pulsed-power systems.
  • Using simulation tools (e.g., COMSOL, CST, LS-DYNA, FLASH) for FEA, thermal analysis, and 3D shock-wave simulations to predict material performance under shock waves.
  • Modeling hydrodynamic and solid-matter interfaces and scaling pulsed-power systems.
  • Designing high-temperature packaging for long-lifetime components.
  • Developing PCBs and advanced high-temperature, high-reliability electronic packaging.
  • Presenting work at design reviews, managing schedules, and tracking project costs.
  • Conducting theoretical and experimental analyses.
  • Documenting results, failures, and corrective actions.
  • Writing technical proposals.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field (B.S. considered with sufficient experience).
  • 5–10+ years of experience in pulsed-power projects, mechanical engineering, or high-temperature packaging.
  • Experience in research, development, or prototyping environments.

Desired Qualifications:

  • 20+ years of experience in pulsed power or related projects for government or industry.
  • Expertise in experimental or theoretical mechanical engineering.
  • Master’s or Ph.D. in a related field.
