Cardiac Nuclear Medicine Assistant Details

Essential Job Duties:

Assists with procedures performed on patients under the direction of a physician or APP and a licensed Nuclear Medicine Technologist.

  1. Prepares stress rooms for procedures
  2. Interviews patients, measures vital signa such as pulse rate, pulse oxygen level, blood pressure, and records information in patient’s charts.
  3. Position patients and equipment.
  4. Cleans and disinfects equipment.
  5. Inventory supplies
  6. Preps and perform Treadmill stress tests for patients
  7. Start IV’s and eventually run nuclear cameras
  8. Safeguard the privacy of patient’s health information
  9. Other related duties may be assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Completion of a Radiography or Health Science program.
  2. Enrollment in an online Nuclear Medicine program required within six (6) months of employment; certification must be attained within six (6) months of graduation.
  3. Attend Nuclear Medicine clinicals required by online program.
  4. Agreement to stay employed in the Union Health Cardiac Nuclear Medicine department for at least 2 years after graduating an accredited Nuclear Medicine program and passing either the NMTCB or ARRT(N) certification exam.
  5. BLS certification
  6. Knowledge of medical terminology.
  7. Ability to effectively communicate
  8. Cardiac experience preferred.
