Job Description

The Associate Publicist is responsible for strategic media outreach on all Felix and FelixMag.co initiatives, projects and events, for editorial and advertising. 


Primary Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for Felix and FelixMag.co's ongoing print and digital publicity efforts
  • Participate in strategizing innovative publicity campaigns for maximum placements and optimum positioning
  • Assist Public Relations Department, internal departments and outside agencies in coordinating/publicizing special events on behalf of Felix and FelixMag.co's Editor-in-Chief and Publisher
  • Write press releases and segment scripts; craft pitches; disseminate information to trade and consumer media
  • Book/produce national/local television and radio segments; coordinate print/Internet interview requests
  • Assist in overseeing and directing outside public relations firms that are retained to provide support for specific projects and events
  • Take initiative in devising creative new ways for Felix and FelixMag.co and additional brand extensions to reach out to media and consumers
  • Serve as liaison with Felix and FelixMag.co's web and social media team for projects involving media and consumers
  • Attend regular editorial meetings and weekly sales meetings
  • Provide regular feedback to Corporate Communications about media monitoring and other PR related services which are managed on a corporate level
  • Provide general administrative support to Felix and FelixMag.co's Public Relations Department
  • Perform ongoing media research to maintain extensive relationships with industry producers/reporters; maintain complimentary mailing list of industry reporters/producers
  • Oversee media monitoring and follow-up; create regular press clipping reports with viewer/readership statistics; maintain digital library of Felix TV segments
  • Feed daily press clips to Corporate Communications/Online for inclusion in the internal Press Room and corporate clips distribution
Qualifications
  • A passion for women's economic opportunities
  • Must be a full or part-time student and working toward a degree
  • Must be eligible to receive school credit and commit to 2-3 days a week for 3 months or a college graduate with 1+ years experience
  • Excellent command of the English language
  • Proven ability to work to stringent deadlines
  • Ability to work as part of a team or autonomously
  • Ability to work in a fast-moving entrepreneurial environment with competing deadlines and priorities
  • Integrity, honesty, openness and a willingness to operate as a team player
  • Preferred candidates will have a record of developing and executing successful media strategies, relevant media contacts and proven media placements and a portfolio of press clips
  • Strong writing and interpersonal skills for communicating with media, internal depts and executive management
  • Knowledge of Critical Mention database and Burrelle's monitoring service
