Library Assistant

The Town has a part-time Library Assistant position available within the South Kingstown Public Library system for someone to work an average of 17 hours per week. Schedule: Tuesdays 1pm - 5pm, at Peace Dale, Wednesdays 4pm to 8pm at Kingston, Thursdays 2pm to 6pm at Peace Dale and Saturdays will alternate weeks of 12pm to 5pm at Kingston or 9am to 2pm at Peace Dale Salary: $16.40 per hour, non benefit eligible

Examples Of Duties

A person in this part-time position performs a variety of basic library functions under the direct supervision of a branch librarian or circulation supervisor. The work involves all aspects of circulation desk duties, shelving returned materials, registering patrons for library cards, answering the telephone and directing patrons to specific materials in the building or to the reference librarians. The employee has direct contact with patrons and other staff. To qualify you must have a high school diploma or GED, be dependable, detail oriented, and have a pleasant, helpful manner.
