Job description

Our organization is currently looking for a Board Eligible/Board Certified Emergency Medicine Physician to join our fellowship program within the Department of Emergency Medicine. We are excited to introduce a one-year Emergency Medicine Global Health Fellowship.

We take pride in having established the first global emergency medicine fellowship program in the United States. Our department actively engages in medical missions, physician-exchange initiatives, and long-term development projects that emphasize advanced education for both physicians and nurses. Twice a year, our residents participate in international electives, and our faculty includes several members who are fellowship-trained in global health. This is a thrilling time to engage in global emergency medicine, as numerous countries are beginning to acknowledge emergency medicine as a recognized specialty, creating ample opportunities for international collaboration.

As a fellow, you will gain expertise in areas such as public health and epidemiology, clinical skills in tropical medicine, global health research, cross-cultural education, and the development of emergency systems programs.

Recently, our focus has included countries like China, Vietnam, Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, Puerto Rico, Egypt, and Mozambique. We are deeply committed to emergency medicine residency training and are currently supporting the establishment of two new residencies in Uganda and Mozambique. Our strategic partnerships with organizations worldwide and collaboration with faculty involved with the World Health Organization on emergency referrals for maternal and neonatal health further enhance our mission.

Fellows will be required to engage in three months of global exposure throughout their fellowship year. They will participate in global health projects designed to enhance the skills essential for a successful career in global health.

Compensation & Benefits

The starting base salary for this position ranges from $203,000 to $213,000. This figure does not include variable compensation or additional productivity incentives and is subject to the department's compensation plan. Detailed information regarding compensation will be discussed with candidates during the recruitment process.
