Job description
The Behavioral, Social and Health Education Sciences department in the Rollins School of Public Health of Emory University is committed to posing timely research questions that are grounded in social and behavioral theory where understanding rests on the consideration of multiple levels of influence as well as advancing empirical support for effective interventions that can be implemented and disseminated across a broad array of contexts. We are searching for a new member of our team to manage the daily study activities for several ongoing research projects.
The Public Health Program Associate will report to the Principal Investigator and assist in the management of daily administrative and research activities including but not limited to study oversight, implementation, quantitative and qualitative data collection, data analysis, protocol and manuscript development, research team management and coordination, and IRB oversight. Experience in HIV prevention and HIV testing certification desired.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Under limited supervision, uses a basic knowledge of public health principles to analyze, develop, implement, and promote new and creative strategies and solutions to address public health issues and challenges.
- Addresses public health issues by providing education, technical assistance, advocacy, public awareness, and research.
- Works with programs or studies designed to evaluate the prevalence or surveillance of public health issues and the effectiveness of targeted interventions.
- May provide technical assistance to organizations to include presentations, web-based resources, strategies, and educational forums to address specific public health issues.
- May work with clinical study sites on patient recruitment and data collection standards. Assists with data collection and data analysis.
- Contributes to proposals, protocols, data analysis plans, reports, manuscripts, and presentation of study findings.
- May assist in designing, developing, and conducting targeted training initiatives.
- May collaborate with external organizations to develop action plans and goals to achieve specific objectives.
- Performs related responsibilities as required.
ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:
- Implement and coordinate research and operational facets of specific research projects in a timely manner and in accordance with IRB standards at Emory and at off-site study sites
- Oversee, manage, and maintain clinical and research relationships with study sites, clinical partners, research collaborators, and other key stakeholders to support successful implementation of research activities across multiple clinical sites
- Coordinate and monitor the implementation of research activities across multiple clinical sites, ensuring adherence to study protocols, timelines, regulatory requirements, and established quality standards
- Perform quantitative and qualitative data collection and statistical analyses
- Design training materials and conduct training sessions
- Monitor budget and conduct financial forecasting for the research program
- Assist in protocol, manuscript, and grant writing
- Serve as a liaison to and interact with community partners and research collaborators
- Assist with research team hiring, onboarding, and development
- Maintain complete and accurate program/research records
- Supervise program staff, students, interns, and/or volunteers
- Perform related responsibilities as required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A master's degree in Public Health, a master of science degree in Public Health or Health Education, OR a master's degree in Development Practice OR a master's degree in another field and one year of public health experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous supervisory and program/project management experience.
- At least 2-3 years of professional experience in a related field such as public health research, program development and management.
- Experience in program development, administration, and management in an academic or public health organization is preferred.
- Experience in HIV prevention and HIV testing certification desired but not required.
NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
