What You Will Do:

Guidehouse is seeking a Senior Public Health Informaticist to support public health surveillance systems, interoperability initiatives, and health data modernization programs. This individual will bridge public health operations and technology implementation through the design, implementation, and optimization of public health data exchange solutions and standards-based interoperability architectures.

  • Lead public health informatics workstreams supporting surveillance, laboratory reporting, interoperability, and public health modernization initiatives.

  • Analyze and optimize public health information flows, surveillance reporting processes, and interoperability workflows.

  • Lead requirements gathering, stakeholder engagement, system analysis, and business process improvement activities.

  • Design and support implementation of HL7 v2, ELR, eCR, CDA, FHIR, and related public health information exchange solutions.

  • Develop implementation guides, use cases, data mappings, workflow specifications, technical requirements, and integration documentation.

  • Support onboarding, testing, validation, and operationalization of public health data exchange capabilities.

  • Collaborate with epidemiologists, statisticians, technical teams, and public health stakeholders to improve data quality, timeliness, and interoperability.

  • Support implementation of public health data standards and governance processes.

  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to public health organizations and system partners.

  • Contribute to modernization roadmaps, interoperability strategies, and future-state architecture planning activities.


What You Will Need:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident AND must be able to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Federal or DHS "PUBLIC TRUST.

  • Bachelor's degree and FIVE (5) years of experience in public health informatics, interoperability, health IT, health information exchange, or related field., or Master's degree with THREE (3) or more years of experience in public health informatics, interoperability, health IT, health information exchange, or related field.

  • FOUR (4) or more years experience implementing or supporting HL7 v2, ELR, eCR, CDA, FHIR, or other health data exchange standards.

  • Experience working with public health surveillance systems, laboratory reporting systems, health information exchanges, or healthcare interoperability platforms.

  • Knowledge of healthcare and public health data standards including HL7, FHIR, CDA, LOINC, SNOMED CT, USCDI, and ICD.

  • Experience gathering technical requirements and translating business needs into technical solutions.

  • Experience conducting interoperability testing, onboarding, validation, and issue resolution activities.

  • Experience producing technical documentation, implementation guidance, and system specifications.


What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • MPH, MS, or related graduate degree.

  • Experience supporting CDC, state, tribal, local, or territorial public health agencies.

  • Strong understanding of public health surveillance business processes and information exchange workflows.

  • Experience with HIV surveillance processes and data

  • Experience with public health data modernization initiatives.

  • Experience implementing FHIR-based exchange architectures.

  • Experience with cloud platforms, APIs, or integration technologies.

  • Experience working with laboratory information management systems (LIMS), surveillance systems, or disease registries.

  • Familiarity with eCR, AIMS, TEFCA, and modern interoperability frameworks.

The annual salary range for this position is $80,000.00-$133,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
