Job description

Compensation and level will be commensurate with experience
Mapfre is seeking an experienced Property Claims Adjuster to independently manage moderate to highly complex homeowners' property claims across multiple states. This field-based position requires strong technical claims expertise, sound judgment, and exceptional customer service skills to investigate losses, assess damages, determine coverage, negotiate settlements, and bring claims to resolution.
Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of moderate to high-exposure and complex property claims from assignment through final resolution.
  • Investigate losses, gather facts, evaluate damages, and determine coverage in accordance with policy provisions and applicable regulations.
  • Conduct thorough on-site inspections, structure evaluations, personal property assessments, and site analyses.
  • Prepare accurate damage estimates and evaluate repair and replacement costs.
  • Negotiate settlements with policyholders, public adjusters, contractors, restoration providers, attorneys, and other stakeholders.
  • Handle litigated claims and collaborate with legal partners as necessary.
  • Maintain proactive and professional communication with policyholders throughout the claim lifecycle.
  • Partner with internal teams and external vendors to ensure timely and effective claim resolution.
  • Apply property claims best practices, company guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Respond to catastrophe (CAT) events and assist with disaster-related claims as needed.
  • Mentor less experienced claims professionals and support knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies.
  • Maintain all required state adjuster licenses and compliance requirements.

Qualifications
Required Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Insurance, Risk Management, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of property claims adjusting experience handling residential property losses.
  • Equivalent combination of an Associate degree and 6+ years of relevant claims experience may be considered.
  • Experience managing moderate to complex homeowners' property claims from investigation through settlement.
  • Previous field adjusting experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience handling litigated property claims.
  • Experience working in a multi-state claims environment.
  • Industry certifications such as AIC, CPCU, SCLA, or similar designations preferred.

  • Experience utilizing claims management systems and estimating platforms.
  • Knowledge of applicable state regulations, policy interpretation, and coverage analysis.
  • Strong understanding of property construction, repair methods, mitigation practices, and restoration processes.
  • Ability to evaluate complex losses and prepare accurate estimates and claim documentation.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain all required state adjuster licenses.

Travel Requirements
  • Regular field travel required to investigate losses, conduct inspections, perform reinspections, attend settlement conferences, and meet with customers and vendors.
  • Must be available for extended overnight travel as business needs dictate.
  • Ability to respond to catastrophe (CAT) deployments, including travel on short notice.
  • Travel may occur during business and non-business hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.

Pay Transparency: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by several factors including skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. Some roles at Mapfre are eligible for commission and/or bonus earnings, in addition to salary, calculated based upon factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
Salary Range: $87,700 - $126,100
