What is a PT technician?

A PT Technician, or Physical Therapy Technician, is a healthcare support professional who assists physical therapists in providing care to patients recovering from injuries, surgeries, or managing chronic conditions. Their duties often include preparing treatment areas, helping patients with exercises, maintaining equipment, and performing administrative tasks. PT Technicians play a vital role in ensuring that therapy sessions run smoothly and that patients receive the support they need for their rehabilitation. They typically work in hospitals, clinics, or rehabilitation centers under the supervision of licensed physical therapists.

What does a PT technician do?

As a PT Technician, your daily responsibilities typically include preparing treatment areas, assisting patients with exercises as directed by physical therapists, and maintaining equipment cleanliness and organization. You’ll work closely with physical therapists to ensure patients perform exercises safely and correctly, often offering encouragement and monitoring progress. Additionally, PT Technicians may handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments or updating patient records, contributing to a smooth and supportive clinical environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a PT technician?
