Job description

General Description This position serves as the leader of the Psychology department of a 110-bed licensed adult Psychiatric hospital. This position develops, oversees, and evaluates psychological testing, evaluation, and treatment services for severely mentally ill patients. Requirements of this position include providing reports and evaluations of behavioral programming, staff accountability performances, and unit or facility performance.

This position will testify in court hearings as an expert witness. Administers psychological diagnostic tests, synthesizes, and evaluates the results. This is a tobacco free facility.

Chosen applicants must successfully complete a chemical urinalysis and breath analysis drug and alcohol screening test. All employees shall be subject to drug and alcohol testing for probable cause as set forth in Agency and Bureau policies. Candidates must successfully pass a background screening.

0512P01837 Minimum Qualifications Education: Master's degree in psychology from a regionally accredited college or university. Licensure/Certifications: Must be a licensed psychologist in West Virginia. Experience: Six (6) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in the field of psychology, researching or teaching, or practicing psychological counseling.

Experience Substitution: Doctorate degree in psychology from an accredited college or university may be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience. Internal Applicants Only: Four (4) years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience as a Psychologist may substitute for the required experience. Mildred Mitchell-Bateman Hospital provides quality patient care and a safe environment for its patients, who are often committed to the hospital through civil commitment or, in the case of forensic patients, ordered through the judicial system. As a training site for future health care professionals, Mildred Mitchell-Bateman Hospital provides on-site learning experiences for educating physicians, nurses, practical nurses, psychologists, counselors, health care administrators, technicians, and supportive services personnel. The hospital holds accreditation by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and is certified by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

Through ongoing collaboration with Marshall University's Department of Behavioral Medicine & Psychiatry, a variety of medical and clinical professionals partner with the hospital's own staff to work diligently with patients to achieve a smooth transition back to the community after discharge.
