Job description

As a Registered Nurse for Aurora Behavioral Healthcare San Diego, you'll provide general and psychiatric nursing care to adults with emotional or psychiatric disorders. You will provide interventions that: promote and foster health; assess dysfunction; assist patients to regain or improve their coping abilities; maximize patient strengths and prevent further disability. These interventions focus on the psychiatric-mental health patient and include health promotion and health maintenance; monitoring patients and assisting them with self-care activities; monitoring psycho-biological treatment regimens; providing triage decisions and facilitating patient movement into appropriate services.

*Pay Range: $50/hr. to $67/hr.

*Available Shifts:

Full Time: AM Shift (7:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M.), PM Shift (3:00 P.M. to 11:30 P.M.), NOC Shift (11:00 P.M. to 7:30 A.M.)

Part Time: AM Shift (7:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M.), PM Shift (3:00 P.M. to 11:30 P.M.), NOC Shift (11:00 P.M. to 7:30 A.M.)

Responsibilities:

  • Collects and analyzes data regarding the patientโ€™s physical, psychological, self-care, educational, and anticipated discharge planning needs
  • Develops a comprehensive outline of care to be delivered to attain expected outcomes; includes in this plan, specific goals and interventions delineating nursing actions unique to each patient
  • Maintains effective communication with all units and departments
  • Supervises direct patient care as required
  • Carries out medication management responsibilities
  • Conducts patient community meetings
  • Provides input into the discharge planning process
  • Maintain patient, and unit related documentation
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and therapeutic environment for patients

Skills:

  • Demonstrates sound leadership skills and critical thinking
  • Basic knowledge of abnormal psychology as typically found in the adult psychiatric population
  • The familiarity of Psychopharmacy and the use of psychotropic medications with the adult psychiatric population
  • Basic teaching and training skills helpful; problem-solving; organizational and time management; crisis intervention skills

Requirements

  • Current California Registered Nurse License
  • BLS (Basic Life Support ) Certification for Healthcare Providers - American Heart Association
  • Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse (PMHN) HIGHLY preferred
  • 3 to 5 years of RN Psychiatric experience HIGHLY preferred
