Job Description
The Department of Music at Pittsburg State University is accepting applications for a non-tenure track position in the areas of music education The university is an accredited institutional member of NASM and offers a Bachelor of Music degree with three emphases (performance, music education, and music with elective studies in an outside field), as well as graduate programs in performance, music education, and conducting. Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in music education
  • Teach additional music courses if aligned with candidate experience and departmental need
  • Serve as primary departmental liaison to the PSU College of Education
  • Foster relationships with regional music educators
  • Participate actively in the recruitment of undergraduate and graduate students

Required Education and Experience
  • Master's degree in music, music education, or related
  • Demonstrated excellence in scholarship and/or creative activity
  • One or more years' teaching as an adjunct, graduate assistant, or faculty member at the collegiate level

Candidate's must hold a master's degree in music discipline or related field. This degree requirement is necessary for accreditation purposes and to ensure candidates possess the specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities that can only be attained through a formal educational program at this level.
Preferred Experience
  • Doctorate degree in music, music education, or related
  • One or more years' experience in secondary-education teaching
