Job description

Start at $18.31 if you have a PSS/CNA Certification, with weekend and holiday pay differential!! We also offer Health Insurance for PSS working 30 or more hours per week, along with other great benefits. 


Are you looking for a position that provides scheduling flexibility and an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of older adults living independently in their own home? If so, then consider working for us as a Personal Support Specialist. Part-time and full time hours available throughout ALL of Aroostook County - especially in Southern Aroostook. If you have a current PSS Certification, you will receive a $500 Bonus after working at least 20 hours a week for 6 months. If you do not have a PSS Certificate, no worries, we will pay for your class and upon successful completion and 6 months of working for us, you will get a $250 bonus.  Competitive pay and benefits. Health Insurance (working 30 hrs. or more per week) and Dental & Vision Insurance available. You may choose to contribute to our 403b Retirement Plan. Holiday and Weekend pay differential.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Personal Support Specialist or Certified Nursing Aid will be responsible for completing tasks outlined in the Care Plan for each individual consumer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Could include any or a combination of the following:
(each consumer care plan is individualized to their own needs)

1. Bathing and Dressing
2. Skin care
3. Feeding/easting assist
4. Transfers
5. Bed mobility
6. Ambulation
7. Toileting
8. Laundry
9. Grocery shopping
10. Meal preparation
11. Routine Housekeeping

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS:

1. Ability and willingness to attend trainings as scheduled.
2. Ability to attend classes to become Certified as Personal Support Specialist, if not currently certified.
3. Ability to understand basic procedures.
4. Ability to perform mathematical functions accurately.
5. Ability to recognize and prioritize responsibilities and to multi-task.
6. Ability to understand specified federal and state regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED FOR POSITION:

Experience and Skill Requirements: The following requirements and skills are considered essential:

  • Certified as a CNA and is currently listed on State of Maine Certified Nursing Assistant registry or
  • Certified as a PSS and is currently listed on State of Maine Personal Support Specialist registry or
  • Willing and able to take, complete and pass a certified PSS Class, paid for by AAA.
  • Comfortable with technology and learning new software as applies to the job.
  • High attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be trustworthy, dependable and show up to work as scheduled.
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
