Key Skills:  Systems Administrator/Systems Engineer/SRE with Windows Server, Linux skills, VMware/vSphere/Proxmox, IaC (Terraform/Ansible/Puppet), Kubernetes.

The Role

We're seeking an experienced, hands-on System Administrator / Site Reliability Engineer to support our multi-site training lab infrastructure. You'll work across HPE server systems, converged infrastructure, enterprise networking, storage, and a wide range of software solutions, provisioning new environments, keeping production running smoothly, and continuously improving how we build and operate our labs.

This role suits a motivated, organized, solution-oriented generalist who's equally comfortable in Linux and Windows, enjoys working close to the hardware, and thrives juggling multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

What You'll Do

  • Provision, install, configure, operate, maintain, and support the hardware and software infrastructure for HPE training solutions.
  • Perform physical equipment setup, own infrastructure design, development, and ongoing support.
  • Manage tasks across HPE Servers, Networking, Storage, Cloud, and Converged Systems.
  • Build scripting and automation solutions to configure hardware and software to a desired state.
  • Conduct technical research, planning, design, and development to drive continuous innovation while meeting organizational standards for quality.
  • Support multiple projects simultaneously and provide ongoing support for production environments.
  • Partner with team members to deliver innovative technology solutions, and support operations staff in executing, testing, and rolling out new solutions.
  • Maintain clear project documentation, handle equipment requests, and ensure smooth transitions from development to production.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience deploying and managing enterprise server hardware (HPE or other enterprise OEM).
  • Working knowledge of Linux or Debian-based operating systems.
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals: IPv4, subnets, routing, VLANs, and L2/L3 managed switches.
  • Hands-on experience with managed network switches (HPE, Cisco, Juniper, or similar).
  • Working knowledge of hypervisor platforms - VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, Proxmox, or KVM.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server and its core services (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills - the ability to identify, characterize, document, and resolve problems.
  • Comfortable working on shared storage (FC and iSCSI) and with firewall solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing firewall solutions in production.
  • Experience with Kubernetes or other container technologies.
  • Experience managing log collection / centralized logging platforms.
  • Experience with private cloud / IaaS platforms such as Morpheus Enterprise / VMware Cloud Director / OpenStack (or similar).
  • Proficiency with automation and infrastructure-as-code tooling (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, or similar) to manage systems at scale.

Who You Might Be

You may be coming from a background such as:
