Job Title: Operations Manager - Electrical Construction
Location : Virginia, Maryland, D.C.
Overview
The Operations Manager is responsible for driving profitability, quality standards, and client relationship management while leading and developing high-performing teams. This role oversees multiple large-scale electrical construction projects, ensuring successful execution, operational excellence, and continuous improvement across the division.
Key Responsibilities
  • Drive division profitability through effective execution of multiple large and complex projects
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives, including lessons learned processes and implementation of best practices
  • Manage, mentor, and develop project teams, fostering a high-performance culture
  • Oversee work assignments, hiring, promotions, and performance evaluations
  • Review and ensure compliance with contractual requirements and project-specific methodologies
  • Control departmental activities to ensure alignment with project requirements and standards
  • Develop and oversee project management strategies, including:

Technical execution
Schedule goals
Procurement processes
Contractual compliance
Resource and capacity planning
  • Adjust priorities and milestones based on changing customer needs, resource availability, and project demands
  • Engage with customers to ensure expectations are met throughout all project milestones
  • Provide oversight and coordination of third-party construction firms and subcontractors
  • Lead the project review process, with a strong focus on financial forecasting and performance
  • Proactively communicate risks, challenges, and successes to stakeholders
  • Coordinate with accounting teams for invoicing as per contract terms and manage/ negotiate change orders

Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of project management experience in electrical construction, managing large portfolios and teams
  • Strong understanding of electric power engineering principles
  • Proven field experience coordinating with construction management teams
  • Extensive knowledge of:

Project scheduling
Bids and take-offs
Change orders
Contracts
  • Demonstrated ability to build client relationships and support business development / winning projects
  • Exceptional leadership, analytical, and team management skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related field (preferred)
  • Journeyman or Master Electrician license (preferred)
