Position Summary

Reports to the Director, IT Network Administration. Responsible for the administration, availability, performance, security, and integrity of MTC’s enterprise network, cloud, server, and related infrastructure environments across corporate, remote, cloud, and facility locations. This position supports MTC’s Microsoft Azure cloud services and facilities on premise services while maintaining secure and reliable network connectivity, hybrid cloud operations, cybersecurity controls, monitoring, vulnerability remediation, incident response, and compliance with applicable regulatory, contractual, and policy requirements. This role must be performed in-office at our headquarters in Centerville, Utah.

Essential Functions:

  • Design, administer, secure, monitor, and troubleshoot enterprise network and hybrid cloud infrastructure, including LAN/WAN, routing, switching, wireless, VPN, firewalls, Azure networking, and connectivity between corporate, remote, correctional, and cloud environments.
  • Administer and maintain Microsoft Azure, Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, virtualization, storage, backup, replication, disaster recovery, and related infrastructure services.
  • Monitor network, server, and cloud performance, availability, capacity, security, and reliability; troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and implement improvements to maximize service availability.
  • Install, configure, patch, upgrade, secure, and document network devices, servers, cloud resources, and infrastructure systems in accordance with approved maintenance and change management practices.
  • Administer and support cybersecurity controls including firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, logging, vulnerability management, security monitoring, identity management, multifactor authentication, conditional access, and privileged access controls.
  • Participate in threat detection, security investigations, incident response, containment, recovery, post-incident reviews, security audits, vulnerability assessments, and remediation activities.
  • Maintain network, infrastructure, and cloud documentation including architecture diagrams, network diagrams, IP addressing, firewall rules, inventories, backup procedures, disaster recovery procedures, and operational runbooks.
  • Coordinate infrastructure, network, cloud, and security requirements for new site startups, facility expansions, cloud migrations, vendor implementations, application integrations, and capital projects.
  • Support secure network and cloud operations for correctional facilities and other operational sites to protect company systems, services, and data from unauthorized access.
  • Evaluate, implement, maintain, and support network, cloud, infrastructure, and cybersecurity technologies while working closely with vendors, service providers, telecommunications carriers, and business partners.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, asset management, lifecycle planning, renewals, and cost-benefit analysis for network, cloud, infrastructure, and cybersecurity services.
  • Provide technical support, customer service, training, and guidance to IT staff, business users, and site personnel; maintain accurate documentation within service management systems.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation and provide after-hours support for outages, incidents, maintenance activities, and other critical events while providing timely communication regarding service impacts and planned maintenance.
  • Maintain accountability of property; follow safety practices; protect confidential information; demonstrate commitment to diversity, MTC's Culture of Caring, sustainability, and other duties as assigned.
  • It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, information systems, cybersecurity, cloud computing, or related field and six (6) years of related network, systems, cloud infrastructure, or cybersecurity experience. Directly related experience may be considered in lieu of formal education requirements, if approved by management. 
  • Current or actively pursued networking, cloud, infrastructure, or cybersecurity certification preferred, such as CISSP, CCIE, Microsoft Azure Administrator, Microsoft Azure Network Engineer, Microsoft Azure Security Engineer, Microsoft 365 Administrator/Security certifications, Palo Alto PCNSA/PCNSE, or equivalent role-related certification. 
  • Strong hands-on experience with enterprise network administration, routing, switching, wireless, VPN, firewalls, Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, virtualization, storage, backup/recovery, Microsoft 365, Azure networking/security, cloud-hosted infrastructure, endpoint protection, logging, vulnerability management, patching, and secure system administration is preferred. 
  • Experience supporting cloud migrations, hybrid network environments, and regulated or contract-driven environments is preferred. 
  • Must be willing and able to travel. 
  • High standard of customer service, quality, confidentiality, and attention to detail. Ability to use creativity, analytical thinking, sound judgment, and initiative to solve business problems. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently while following documented processes and procedures. Desire to share knowledge through documentation, mentoring, and cross-training. Ability to quickly learn new skills and systems. 
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Unless waived by management, must possess a valid driver's license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record.
