Position Overview

Providence Health Clinic is currently seeking a dedicated and skilled full-time Physician Assistant to join our dynamic surgical center in Saint Petersburg, Florida. As a vital part of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for diagnosing and treating various health conditions, while also focusing on promoting wellness and preventive healthcare practices.

Our surgical center features a collaborative environment, comprised of a team of experienced Medical Doctors (MDs) and Nurse Practitioners (NPs) who work together to ensure optimal patient outcomes. We pride ourselves on fostering a supportive atmosphere where every team member plays a crucial role in patient care.

Work Environment

Located in the beautiful coastal city of Saint Petersburg, our surgical center provides a fast-paced and high-energy work environment. You will work alongside 5 MDs and 5 other NPs, collaborating seamlessly to create individualized treatment plans for patients. The position requires working on-site, providing 40 hours of service per week, from Monday to Friday, until 5:00 pm. Proper teamwork and communication are essential, as the Physician Assistant will interact with various healthcare professionals and support staff daily.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough physical examinations for patients and review medical histories to formulate accurate diagnoses.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests including blood work and imaging studies to assess patients' health.
  • Diagnose and manage health conditions, developing comprehensive treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Prescribe medications and therapies as necessary, adhering to state and federal regulations.
  • Maintain meticulous patient records and schedules to ensure continuity of care.
  • Educate patients and their families about health conditions, treatment options, and disease prevention strategies.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to monitor patientsโ€™ progress and effectiveness of treatment plans.
  • Promote preventive health measures and healthy living practices within our patient community.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and contribute to clinic research initiatives.
Patient Population / Client Focus

The ideal candidate will be passionate about working with a diverse patient population that includes individuals across various age groups and health backgrounds. You will encounter a wide range of surgical and rehabilitative cases, allowing you to apply your expertise and enhance your clinical skills. A focus on patient-centered care is paramount in ensuring that all patients feel supported throughout their healthcare journey.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and a Master's degree in Physician Assistant studies.
  • Valid Florida State Physician Assistant license and PA-C certification are mandatory.
  • Active DEA number required for medication prescriptions.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Physician Assistant in settings such as hospitals, clinics, or emergency rooms.
  • Experience in primary care or surgical settings is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients and collaborate with healthcare team members.
  • A strong commitment to ethical practices and dedication to ongoing professional development.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in specialties such as acute care, cardiology, or urgent care.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Bilingual proficiency is considered an asset, though not required.
