Job description

Position Overview

SMH Innovations is seeking an Interventional Gastroenterologist for an immediate coverage need at Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City . This is an inpatient proceduralist and call coverage role within an established, regional advanced endoscopy program offering a full spectrum of advanced endoscopic services.

Coverage is needed as soon as credentialed.

Assignment Details
  • Start: ASAP (upon credentialing)

  • Setting: Inpatient + procedural coverage

  • Schedule:

    • In-house call: 12-hour shifts (8:00 AM 8:00 PM)

    • On-call: 12 hours (8:00 PM 8:00 AM)

  • Coverage Need:

    • 1 2 weeks per month

    • Preference for 2 weeks/month, but 1 week/month will be considered

    • Expected duration: 9 12 months

  • Volume:

    • Average patients/day

    • Approx. 5 procedures/day

    • On-call volume: 0 10 calls overnight

    • Average callback: 1 3 times overnight per week

Program Highlights
  • Established advanced endoscopy program

  • Full-spectrum services including:

    • Advanced ERCP

    • Therapeutic EUS

    • Advanced endoscopic resection modalities

  • Hospital-based proceduralist and call coverage

Licensure
  • Oklahoma license required OR

  • IMLC eligible (facility is accepting IMLC bids)

Required Training & Qualifications
  • Current Experience (must meet one of the following):

    • Demonstrated competence with 200 therapeutic ERCPs, 40 sphincterotomies, and 10 stent placements within the past 12 months, OR

    • Completion of advanced endoscopy training within the past 12 months

Case Log Requirements

Case logs are required for each bid submitted and must meet the following criteria:

  • Documentation from ProVation or a comparable GI documentation system

  • Separate and distinct case logs for:

    • ERCP

    • EUS

  • Logs must reflect individual patient cases

  • Coverage period: Past 12 months

ProVation is a gastroenterology procedure documentation system used to track physician documentation, CPT, and ICD-10 codes. These logs are required to verify procedural volume and ensure hospital privilege requirements are met.

Credentialing & Interview Process
  • Candidates meeting qualifications will advance to interviews

  • Case logs will be requested prior to initiation of credentialing/onboarding
