Role Overview:
Multi Asset Solutions (MAS) is a multi-asset class investing group that sits within Goldman Sachs Asset Management. It designs and develops comprehensive investment management solutions customized to meet client objectives and constraints. These solutions utilize proprietary research and multi-asset analytics. With investment professionals across the globe, MAS invests or advises on assets for some of the world's leading corporations, sovereign wealth funds, pension plans, governments, financial institutions, endowments, foundations, and family offices.
The successful candidate would become a member of the Retirement Planning and Advice Investment Product Team- a managed accounts and advice solution for defined contribution plans and other primarily retirement asset pools - within MAS that develops personalized retirement glidepaths, portfolios and retirement income plans for individual investors based on the capabilities brought to the firm in the 2022 acquisition of NextCapital. This person will have a leadership role in developing new investment capabilities and features and overseeing our investment methodology for Retirement Planning and Advice. Additionally, the individual will also represent investment methodology and features with clients and prospects as well as consultants and advisors.
The role is highly analytical, focusing on the execution and implementation of new retirement investing features and methodology enhancements, spanning the early development phase through governance approvals and final implementation. The candidate will work closely with multiple teams including quantitative researchers, engineering, product, UX, participant engagement and project management teams. The ideal candidate is someone who has familiarity with defined contribution plans, and personalized retirement planning and investing solutions with prior responsibility in either or both a product management and/or client portfolio manager-type role.
Core responsibilities include:
  • Drive the evaluation, design, and enhancement of investment features and methodologies for Retirement Planning and Advice
  • Monitor the managed accounts landscape, including competitive positioning, industry trends, and regulatory developments
  • Represent investment team as part of broader discussions with clients, prospects, consultants, advisors and other external parties regarding Retirement Planning and Advice services
  • Ownership of methodology design for select features, including the development of governance materials and the facilitation of formal approval cycles
  • Development of client and participant-facing methodology and investment product documents
  • Project and roadmap management, in coordination with the project management and engineering teams
  • Review large amounts of data and develop observations and time series trends
  • Ad hoc requests to review investment fund exposures and portfolios
  • Review recurring investment deliverables to clients and prospects

Other required skills/experience:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in defined contribution, retirement or digital financial planning
  • Strong writing and presentation skills
  • Excellent investment acumen and advanced quantitative proficiency
  • Mastery of advanced Excel (including creating bespoke analytics) and PowerPoint capabilities
  • Experience with multi-asset portfolio construction
  • Experience working with multiple clients/projects simultaneously
  • Experience presenting to internal and external Investment Committees a plus
  • Strong understanding of the managed accounts landscape (e.g. competitive dynamics, fiduciary considerations, etc.) a plus
  • Experience as a product manager and/or client portfolio manager in related field a plus
