Job Description

The Electronic Engineering Technician supports plant operations by maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving the electronic, electrical and control systems used throughout rubber compounding, mixing and finishing processes. 

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

  • Demonstrate strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to think beyond equipment symptoms to identify true root causes. Some night and weekend support will be required as needed to support operations.
  • Diagnose electrical and controls-related issues; support equipment repair, system restart, and stabilization during breakdowns within assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Provide controls and automation support using Allen-Bradley (Rockwell) PLC platforms, including but not limited to ControlLogix, CompactLogix, SLC, PanelView, FactoryTalk View SE, and FactoryTalk Transaction Manager (FTTM). Responsibilities include troubleshooting, programming, commissioning, and ongoing support.
  • Maintain and update electrical and controls documentation using AutoCAD to ensure prints and schematics remain accurate and current.
  • Apply project management skills to coordinate work with contractors and internal maintenance and engineering personnel on controls and automation projects.
  • Support modernization initiatives by upgrading legacy controls systems to ensure compatibility with Continental data collection, automation, and corporate software platforms.
  • Support planning and implementation of new production lines, including layout development, electrical design, control panel layout, PLC programming, and HMI development.
  • Drive increased automation and digitalization initiatives aligned with Industry 4.0 objectives.
  • Monitor process performance and support new product ramp-ups, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.
  • Prepare, configure, and maintain plant electrical controls systems to interface with the Manufacturing Service Bus (MSB) and Continental corporate software platforms to enable real-time process data collection.
Qualifications

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE

  • Associate Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Automation or related field
  • 3+ years Electrical Tech with PLC experience  (Allen Bradley, Siemens)
  • Strong Troubleshooting experience and problem-solving skills 
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and control logic.

  • Experience in manufacturing or industrial maintenance 
  • Siemens PLC experience is beneficial but not required for the Lincoln facility.
