What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in property risk management, and why are they important?

To thrive in Property Risk Management, you need expertise in risk assessment, property valuation, and knowledge of insurance principles, often supported by a degree in finance, business, or a related field. Familiarity with risk analysis software, property management systems, and certifications like ARM (Associate in Risk Management) are typically required. What is property risk management?

Property risk management is the process of identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks that could negatively impact real estate assets, such as commercial buildings or residential properties. Insurance Producer (Outside Sales)

Avalon Risk Management

Humble, TX โ€ข On-site

Full-time

Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, Retirement

Job description

Description:

Avalon Risk Management is a specialty insurance broker operating at the intersection of international trade, logistics, and global risk. For almost 30 years, we have focused on a niche most firms cannot serve well. Our clients move goods across borders, through complex supply chains, and under evolving regulatory frameworks. They choose Avalon because we understand their world and know how to insure it.

We are seeking an experienced outside sales producer to grow our Southern territory. This role is designed for a licensed insurance professional who understands logistics, importation, and trade and wants to sell sophisticated solutions rather than commoditized insurance. This position is based out of our greater Houston area office located at 5810 Wilson Road, Suite 265, Humble, TX 77396 with regular in-office collaboration required.

We are pursuing talent with either outside sales experience specifically within international trade, logistics, freight forwarding, 3PL, or a closely related industry, or has a current Property & Casualty Producer license and proven insurance outside sales experience. Success at Avalon comes from the ability to prospect thoughtfully, build long-term relationships, and sell on expertise and value. Our producers are comfortable having technical conversations with business owners, risk managers, and senior leaders about their importation and logistics operations.

You will be responsible for proactively developing new business, conducting coverage reviews, working closely with underwriters, and presenting tailored proposals. This role requires travel throughout the Southern territory, active participation in industry organizations, and consistent use of our agency management system, Applied Epic.

Avalon offers a competitive base salary plus an auto allowance, and uncapped incentive compensation tied to new and renewal business. Our benefits include health, dental, and vision coverage through Aetna, Life & AD&D, 401(k), tuition reimbursement, and student loan assistance.

We are a privately held firm, owned by our founding management team, and are proven leaders in the logistics insurance and surety space. If you are an experienced outside sales professional looking to build a career in a true specialty niche, we invite you to learn more at www.avalonrisk.com and apply.
