Job description

Overview:
This position is an integral role within M&T's Property Preservation team that will execute day to day functions including managing a conveyance portfolio, identifying curtailment losses and monitoring for reimbursement when applicable, reviewing and responding to code violations and participating in weekly conference calls with vendor(s).
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Sign off on documents and approve loss sheets as a result of the late submission of reports.
  • Complete curtailment billings that are submitted to vendor.
  • Review and approve hazard claim repairs, and investor allowables.
  • Participate in weekly conference calls with vendors.
  • Oversee the Property Preservation mailbox ensuring that all correspondence is responded to timely.
  • Refer all files to Real Estate Owned (REO) that cannot be conveyed to the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
  • Approve code violation bids.
  • Complete projects related to nonperforming loan sale, due diligence bids for HUD and overdue tasks.
  • Manage a conveyance portfolio, ensuring that deadlines are being met by working closely with the vendor, obtaining status updates and reducing monetary losses.
  • Manage the reconveyance portfolio ensuring that timely responses are provided to HUD and determine responsibility of the reconveyance including placing the property back into conveyance condition timely.
  • Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities:
This position interacts with internal CAM departments, external third-party property preservation vendors and HUD.
Education and Experience Required:
A combined 4 years' higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 2 years' Mortgage Default and/or Property preservation experience.
Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and email software.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Detail oriented.
Motivated, team player with a positive and friendly attitude.
Strong analytical ability and problem solving skills.
Very strong work ethic and ability to work independently.
Education and Experience Preferred:
Bachelor's degree.
Knowledge of departmental software and M&T Bank systems.
5 years' Mortgage Default and/or property preservation experience.
Prior departmental experience preferred.
