We aim to engage the exceptional and embrace operational excellence to best deliver connectivity and technology solutions that advance our communities and customers' lives. • Oversee exemption certificate management, including collection, validation, renewals, resale certificates, customer exemptions, and tax refund support.
• Manage property tax compliance activities including rendition filings, valuation reviews, appeals, and payment coordination across multiple jurisdictions.
• Oversee franchise fee compliance processes including calculations, workpapers, filings, payments, notice management, and forecasting support.
• Manage unclaimed property compliance activities, including dormancy tracking, data aggregation, filing preparation, and documentation retention.
• Support indirect tax audits by managing data requests, preparing documentation, responding to inquiries, and coordinating with external advisors when necessary.
• Lead remediation efforts resulting from audit findings and strengthen internal controls to reduce future compliance risk.
• Conduct tax research and technical analysis related to indirect tax matters while escalating complex issues when appropriate.
• Supervise indirect tax team members by providing day-to-day leadership, coaching, performance management, and technical development.
• Drive automation initiatives, process improvements, and workflow optimization across the indirect tax function.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures while ensuring team members are trained on updated processes.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments that may impact C Spire's tax obligations and communicate business implications to leadership.
This position is an exceptional opportunity to build deep expertise across complex telecommunications tax structures while helping shape the operational excellence of C Spire's tax organization. From Manager, Indirect Tax, you will have a strong springboard into senior tax leadership roles across corporate finance, compliance, and strategic tax planning.
