The Right Fit:
The Property Accountant is responsible for the financial reporting and accounting functions for a portfolio of commercial properties. Working closely with Property Managers and the finance team, you'll prepare monthly financial statements, monitor budgets, reconcile operating costs, and support annual budgeting and tenant recoveries.

What You'll be Doing:
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting working papers for an assigned property portfolio.
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger analysis.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries and accruals.
  • Assist with annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Prepare annual CAM and tax recovery reconciliations.
  • Monitor budget variances and provide financial analysis to Property Managers.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and tenant receivables.
  • Work closely with Leasing and Property Management to ensure lease information is accurately reflected in financial reporting.
  • Support year-end audit requirements and provide documentation as required.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with internal accounting policies.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and reporting efficiencies.
What You Bring to the Table:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA designation or active pursuit of CPA is considered a strong asset.
  • Three or more years of accounting experience, preferably within commercial real estate or property management.
  • Experience preparing financial statements and working with multiple entities or properties.
  • Strong understanding of accrual accounting and financial reporting principles.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with Yardi or another property management/accounting system is an asset.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
