Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Insurance Company is seeking a Property Pricing Intern to work out of their Alpharetta, Georgia office.

Hours: Between 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

  • 15-30 hours per week during the school year depending on the applicant's schedule
  • 30-40 hours per week in the summer

Duties in the Pricing Department include:

  • Collection and analysis of data to determine pricing of various property characteristics
  • Interaction with state departments of insurance to gain approval of desired rates where needed, and interaction with internal programming team to ensure accurate implementation of rates.
  • Communication of pricing decisions and results via regular and ad hoc reports
  • Required data reporting for the states in which we write business
  • Regular review of live policies to check for accurate rating

During this internship, the student will gain:

  • Knowledge of fundamental concepts of insurance (including coverages & pricing)
  • An understanding of basic commercial property insurance pricing and the organization of pricing data

Requirements:

  • Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, or Senior
  • Major in business, math, or equivalent
  • Work with detail and accuracy
  • Strong math skills
  • Excellent grammar, proofreading and written communication skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines
