Headquartered in the Washington, DC area, Acento is a leading property operations and investment management company focused on multifamily communities in Hispanic markets and Workforce Housing.
The opportunity: At Acento Real Estate Partners, we're looking for a Property Management Financial Controller who wants to do more than manage the numbers. We're seeking a hands-on finance leader who takes ownership, develops people, improves processes, and partners with operations to help drive our growing real estate platform.
This is a high-impact leadership role within our Accounting team, offering the opportunity to shape financial operations, strengthen internal controls, and build a best-in-class finance organization.
You'll partner closely with executive leadership to help shape financial strategy while building a best-in-class accounting organization.
What you'll do
  • Lead the monthly close process and deliver accurate, timely financial reporting.
  • Oversee property accounting, cash management, budgeting, compliance, and internal controls.
  • Monitor financial performance, identify risks and trends, and recommend solutions.
  • Improve accounting processes, reporting, and system efficiencies, including RealPage.
  • Partner with Operations, Asset Management, Treasury, Tax, and executive leadership.
  • Coach, develop, and lead a high-performing accounting team.
What success looks like
You'll thrive in this role if you:
  • Take ownership with minimal supervision.
  • Deliver accurate financial reporting and strong cash oversight.
  • Improve processes and strengthen internal controls.
  • Build an engaged, accountable accounting team.
  • Communicate proactively and solve problems before they escalate.
  • Become a trusted business partner across the organization.
Why you'll love working at Acento
At Acento, we believe our people are our greatest investment. We foster a collaborative culture where accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth are part of everyday work.
We offer a competitive compensation and benefits package, including:
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance, plus a Health Reimbursement Account (HRA)
  • Employer-paid life insurance, short-term disability, and long-term disability coverage
  • 18 days of Paid Time Off (PTO)
  • 11.5 paid company holidays
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • 401(k) with a 4% employer match
  • Annual bonus eligibility
  • Employee referral bonus program
  • Opportunities for professional growth and career advancement
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA required
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership experience
  • Commercial or multifamily real estate accounting experience required
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, budgeting, financial reporting, cash management, and internal controls
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; RealPage experience strongly preferred
If you're a finance leader who enjoys improving processes, developing teams, and partnering with the business to make a meaningful impact, we'd love to hear from you.
